Provide a rough drawing of your counters or the pieces of granite you want with measurements. Indicate areas needing Backsplash, Special Edge Profiles, Arcs or Curves; and Cut Outs for Sinks, Cook Tops; and/or Vents.

If Key Stone Carvings does not have the perfect stone for you, we will direct you to view stone at one of our preferred slab distributors. We ask that you like all parts of the slab you select.
Fissures and changes in texture or color on natural stone are an acceptable characteristic. Please examine the material closely, both by eye and touch, as the surface of the material will not be changed by the fabrication or sealing process

A 50% deposit based on the estimate for the stone you have selected will be necessary for us to reserve your stone and schedule your Template and Installation.
Deposits can be made by dropping off payment or calling in with a credit card. Please confirm we have the correct address for your job site and valid contact information. Then let us know when you will be ready for template!

Ready for Template Qualifications:

1. All lower cabinets must be level and secured in their final position.
2. Any cabinets that will be sitting on the counter must be on hand for measurements.
3. If you are just replacing a counter top, the old top should be removed to ensure a proper fit of the new counter to your walls.
4. If you are unable to remove the top yourself, or do not have a handy man to do it for you, please ask for an estimate for Key Stone Carvings to do the removal for you.
5. Power outlets must be roughed in.
6. Your sink and faucet must be on site unless you are purchasing them through Key Stone Carvings.
7. If you are using a Farm or Apron Sink it must be in position.
8. If you are using a Cast Iron Sink you must have a cradle for it to support the weight.
9. Cooktop or Slide In Stove must be on site so they can be measured.
10. If the project is a fireplace or hearth, the floor must be level and firmly supported.

Please speak with one of KSC’s templators if you are planning a slab shower.

Key Stone Carvings will come to your house and do a laser template of the project – an average kitchen will take less than an hour. Please plan to be on site to answer any questions regarding overhang, arcs; and corner radii.
If the measurements from the template are different from what we were given for the original estimate, we will revise the quote based on the actual project dimensions
Significant changes will be sent to you for approval prior to fabrication.

If you have selected a material with movement, veining, or random crystal and pattern changes, you are welcome to come to our showroom to layout the laser template on your stone. This is done on a computer where the line frame of each section of your counter can be over laid onto a detailed picture of your actual slab.
We will begin by laying out the slab using our experience to provide the best flow of veining and color throughout your counters and any seams that are necessary. We can work with you to position each counter to highlight areas of the stone you prefer if you would like to make changes. All fabrication is done at our shop in Hudson.
We prefer to drill all faucet or other holes in our shop to reduce the possibility of chipping on the hole edges. We will seal all natural stone in our shop at the end of the fabrication process.

Final payment is to be made before installation. Please stop by or call our office with a credit card.
Installation is normally seven to ten days after the template. If the sink or any other information that is necessary for fabrication is not available at the template, fabrication will be delayed. Fabrication can also be delayed if approval of price increase or other questions are unanswered after the template.
We will attach the sink(s) to the granite, test the faucet placement to ensure it fits; and test fit slide in stove or cook top. You will need to have a plumber attach the sink to the drain and hook up the water to the faucet. All electrical or gas utilities will need to be hooked up by appropriate technicians, these are not Key Stone Carvings responsibility.
